Enzyme Class:
Biological Properties
General Function:Involved in protein-N(PI)-phosphohistidine-sugar phosphotransferase activity
Specific Function:The phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent sugar phosphotransferase system (sugar PTS), a major carbohydrate active -transport system, catalyzes the phosphorylation of incoming sugar substrates concomitantly with their translocation across the cell membrane. This system is involved in glucose transport. This enzyme is also a chemoreceptor monitoring the environment for changes in sugar concentration
Cellular Location:Cell inner membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein
