DescriptionUDP-Mur2Ac(oyl-L-Ala-gamma-D-Glu-L-Lys-D-Ala-D-Ala) is an intermediate in peptidoglycan biosynthesis. It is substrate for the enzyme Phospho-N-acetylmuramoyl-pentapeptide-transferase which catalyzes the first step of the lipid cycle reactions in the biosynthesis of the cell wall peptidoglycan. The reaction is UDP-Mur2Ac(oyl-L-Ala-gamma-D-Glu-L-Lys-D-Ala-D-Ala) + undecaprenyl phosphate = UMP + Mur2Ac(oyl-L-Ala-gamma-D-Glu-L-Lys-D-Ala-D-Ala)-diphosphoundecaprenol.
